Harry Edwards Jewelers Annual Domino Competition A “Slamming” Good Time

On the evening of Saturday, October 14, 2017 Harry Edwards Jewelers hosted the first annual Domino Competition for the Taxi Drivers Association at the CSA Centre in Sans Souci. 32 taxi drivers from 13 taxi companies across St Lucia paired up in teams and played some of their best games for a night of jovial competition.

In an effort to show appreciation for the hard work and loyalty of the taxi drivers, as well as to solidify and grow the relationship between both parties, Thomas Ladner, Managing Director of Harry Edwards Jewelers wanted to put on an activity to showcase the commitment that Harry Edwards has to their partnership with taxi drivers.

“This event is a way of showing appreciation to all the taxi drivers, as they are among the first contacts for visitors to our island. We want to thank them all for their efforts and the courtesies they extend to those who come to our shores.” he stated.

“When you think of fine jewelry we would like you to think of Pandora, John Hardy and Hearts on Fire diamonds. When you think of exquisite watches like Rolex, Cartier, or Breitling we hope you consider Harry Edwards Jewelers, a company who works consistently to maintain great relationships like these.” Sonia Graham, Hotel Coordinator for Harry Edwards Jewelers, in her speech to open the event.

Victorinox Swiss Army Knife and Watch Company, St. Lucia Distillers, Peter and Company Distribution, Grace Foods, and Rubis West Indies Ltd. all joined the initiative as official sponsors, providing prizing for the winners and runners up. After much competition, the final two teams were Joseph Anthony and Joseph Albertie, and Joseph Pierre and Simon Altinor – both teams were incidentally from Holiday Taxi out of The BodyHoliday Resort. Ultimately Joseph Anthony and Joseph Albertie pulled ahead and won the competition 6 – 0. Both men expressed pride in being the first to place their names on the perpetual trophy, a historical moment, and spoke about how glad they were to be partners, having played many times together in the taxi hut.

Harry Edwards Jewelers was thrilled with the success of the evening, and many of the taxi drivers in attendance told of their gratitude for the event and excitement for next year’s competition.
